Ignition Modules/Systems

The following modules are currently "production" items and are in stock and available.

The original "HED" is no longer in production however the other modules available replace and improve on it's design.

In an effort to provide dependable and consistent operation I am recommending that "ALL" modules be operated with "Model Type" ignition coils except where noted.  Examples are the Exciter, Modelectric, Gettig or similar.

All of these modules have slight "differences" and "attributes" and I will attempt to explain them under their respective listings.

Solid State Ignition Module
The Solid State module is designed to work in conjunction with your engine's breaker points.  It's purpose is to switch the high current of the ignition coil primary with a solid state device and require the breaker points to carry only a few milliamperes of current.  No "arcing" of the points, longer life and less affected by misalignment etc. Requires an ignition coil for a complete system and operates from 3.6 to 12.0VDC.  Unit is sealed, resistant to fuel, oil, water and has a terminal strip for ease of connection. Comes with connection diagram.

HED II Hall Effect Ignition Module
This unit is a "Hall Effect Amplifier" which utilizes a Hall Effect(magnetic) sensor to fire your engine's ignition coil.  The HE sensors are not affected by oil, grease, dirt etc. and there is no "mechanical" contact hence nothing to wear out.  A small "Rare Earth" magnet passing the sensor triggers the system.  Unit is sealed, has a terminal strip for connection and an integral LED for ease of ignition timing and to verify operation.  Supplied with HE sensor w/12" leads, 3 different sized Rare Earth(Neodymium) magnets, mounting brackets, information packet and connection diagram. Requires ignition coil to "complete" system.

HED III Hall Effect Ignition Module
The HED III module operates in the same manner and is of the same construction as the HED II with the following differences:

This module is "specifically" designed for use with Automotive, Motorcycle and Magneto type ignition coils.  This module combined with an automotive ignition coil yields a very high energy ignition system for model engine builders. Requires an ignition coil to "complete" system.

Supplied with the same sensor, instructions and accessories as the HED II.
